It’s a slow week in Home and Away land, and it looks like the producers are going to milk out of the robbery everything they can.
Things pick back up at the bus stop with Ryder and Evan. Evan coughs and spluttering all over the place but still insists on leaving.
“I don’t want this,’ says Evan. “I didn’t want to watch Ryder die at me.”
But he’s giving in, probably because he’s nowhere to go, and he joins Ryder, Roo, Alf, and Marta in the house like one big happy family. He’s in another coughing fit.
He says he has never felt better and could even move back into the van. It is unconvincing. What about these people and their obsession with living in a van?
Martha talks to him about “palliative care” and is awfully worried about Ryder’s emotional investment in the dying man, and basically tells Evan to get his act together and accept that Ryder wants to be there for him and has taken an indefinite leave of work to do so.
Evan still resists their charity and says that if only the bus had been on time, they wouldn’t be looking after him. But I find that difficult to believe because buses are never on time, and he’d only get as far a Yabby Creak anyway.
Colby suspects that something is not right and has set it his own to investigate the Paratha in his downtime personally.
He has a casual chat with Willow about the ongoing investigation and gets her to weigh in on Gemma’s declining to take her fingerprints.
Willow agrees, saying it’s a big deal, and she wouldn’t volunteering to have her prints taken. We ‘re assuming Colby’s anger, and we’re only going to fuel his curiosity. And It does.
He ‘s going to visit Gem at work since she can’t shut the door on him. He reiterates that as a suspect, it would rule her out, but she has no problem shutting off her offer.
For the time being, he puts it aside to focus on Bell’s 18th birthday by prying her with cupcakes and pancakes.
Next is the painfully slow separation between Ben and Maggie. Ben goes to Salt to grab the takeaway, and Gem remarks, “Dinner for one at the motel. Classic!
And speaking for those of dinner it cuts to a dismal Maggie playing in her big empty house with her giant bowl of pasta.
Hey, okay, Home and Away, we get your not so subtle hint of each other’s longing.
But, any reunion is not yet on the cards.
Ben wants to clear the air with Maggie following the public spat between Nikau and Gem, but he doesn’t get off to a great start when he wanders into their once-marital home without knocking, which really gets Maggie riled up.
She’s standing there with her pursed lips and her attitude, telling him to leave.
Maggie’s chatting with Roo cools off.
She so happens to see Gem who wants to clear the air, but today Maggie is on a roll and is taking the opportunity to shout at Gem in public.
Gem trusts in Ben and he comforts her by putting his hand on her arm.
Obviously Maggie sees that and misinterprets the moment for them to rekindle their romance.
Dean is private and calls Ziggy to forewarn her that “WWIII” is about to kick off.
Maggie’s verging on manic yet incredibly determined. She says Ben has everything she can have. The car, the house, and she have applied for a transfer at work so they don’t have to encounter any smaller run-ins in town.
We don’t know where, but in the morning the preview said she’s going to go to Italy, which is awfully soon.
There’s been a lot of murmuring about Maggie leaving the show so it could be her exit as well.
