Neighbours Spoilers – Erinsborough says goodbye to Hendrix Greyson

Next week on Neighbours in the UK, Hendrix’s lung transplant goes off without a hitch, but a cruel twist of fate awaits.

These scenes air in the UK from Monday 13th June, and in Australia from Thursday 30th June.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland).

His persistent cough revealed he had sarcoidosis, which is often treatable. However, it had already developed into pulmonary fibrosis, likely caused by the toxic fumes he breathed in when he rushed into a burning Erinsborough High to save girlfriend Mackenzie (Georgie Stone). The development left him needing a lung transplant within three years.

When he and Mackenzie headed to Sydney shortly after, Hendrix’s sister Alana (Molly Broadstock) soon sensed something was up, and she and his dad Pierce (Tim Robards) discovered the truth about his health problems when they snooped through his bags.

His entire family was incredibly supportive, and their outpouring of affection pushed Hendrix to propose to Mackenzie on the fly of the moment.

Their friends gave him and Mackenzie an engagement party back in Erinsborough, when he received a phone call informing him that a donor had already been identified!

With the transplant only a week away and Hendrix facing months of recovery, Hendrix and Mackenzie decided to move their wedding forwards and get married right away.

Everything in Hendrix’s life seemed to be going swimmingly.

The young couple tie the wedding in a stunning ceremony accompanied by their entire family, including Mackenzie’s father Grant, in Tuesday’s UK episode (airing in Australia on Tuesday 28th June) (Paul Mercurio).

The day is wonderful, and Pierce has a surprise in store for the newlyweds when he announces he’s purchased them their own apartment so they can start married life together.

On the other side, he learns that the surgery has been successful – the lung transplant went off without a hitch. It’s the news everyone has been hoping for.

Unfortunately, catastrophe is hovering just around the corner in Erinsborough, and a complication sends Hendrix into panic mode. It’s determined soon that his body is rejecting the transplanted lung, and he’s given only hours to survive.

Hendrix is forced to accept his fate while putting on a brave face. Hendrix surrounds himself with his loved ones in his Erinsborough hospital bed.

A once cocky private school snob, now adored by all, fights his final hours to make the most of the time he has left.

As he breathes his final breath, there won’t be a dry eye in the house.

Greyson, Vale Hendrix

A look back on “Hendo”

As Erinsborough says goodbye to Hendrix, we take a look at his time on Ramsay Street.

Ever since his arrival in Erinsborough three years ago, Hendrix Greyson has been a shining light upon those around him.

The light, though, is scheduled to go out completely this week.

Hendrix arrived as the pampered son of multi-millionaire hotel tycoon Pierce Greyson (Tim Robards / Don Hany), who was booted out of his fancy school and brought to live with his estranged father by his mother Lisa (Jane Allsop).

Hendrix didn’t take long to build a name for himself on Ramsay Street. He eventually developed a crush on his stepmother Chloe, as well as a lighthearted rivalry with Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) (April Rose Pengilly). Despite her marriage to Pierce terminating not long after it began, their relationship continued.

Hendrix was nothing but trouble during his first few months in Erinsborough. He snatched the Melbourne Cup trophy, threw Pierce’s golf equipment into the lake, crashed parties, and accidentally drove into a marquee at Lassiters.

Hendrix realised his competition with Harlow was progressively turning romantic as the year 2020 approached. Clementine, the Willis’ cat, whom Hendrix adored and Harlow despised, died in an accident, bringing the two together for the first time.

Their relationship began well and had some nice moments, such as when Hendrix consoled Harlow after her mother died in an explosion, but it soon became tense.

Meanwhile, his friendship with Pierce deteriorated, and Hendrix poisoned him by mistake after finding he’d cheated on Chloe with Dipi Rebecchi (Sharon Johal).

Pierce chose to return to Sydney after ending his relationship with Dipi and wanted Hendrix to accompany him. He declined, stating that he prefered to remain in Erinsborough. Fortunately, Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan (Jackie Woodburne) agreed that he may return to No. 28 as long as he got a job and paid his rent.

After Hendrix almost lost No. 24 in an illegal gambling ring, and caused a pizza oven explosion which landed Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) in hospital, Harlow rejected Hendrix due to his immaturity.

She ended their relationship, leaving him distraught. He tried tirelessly to win her back, but it was to no avail, as she quickly went on with his competitor Brent Colefax (Texas Watterson).

Year 13 was one of Hendrix’s most important conflicts. Hendrix returned to school after failing his VCE and enrolled in a special programme aimed at honing practical abilities that could be applied in the workplace.

Hendrix left before the end of the year, despite having played for the majority of the year. He’d been able to hone his talents sufficiently to land a job at Leo’s (Tim Kano) winery, fortunately. It wasn’t long until he was fired, but Harold’s was hiring at the time. He was promptly hired as a chef, and it was here that he was allowed to use his culinary skills to express himself.

It wasn’t long before he and his best friend Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) realised they were falling in love with each other. Despite the fact that it felt like a forbidden romance, the two gave in to their feelings because Mackenzie was Harlow’s best friend.

Although Harlow wasn’t happy at first, she eventually began to accept the couple and they have been on an upward trajectory ever since.

In 2021, Hendrix was discovered to have a lump in his testicle, which caused some concern. Despite knowing he should have it looked out, he went on a drinking binge and worried there was something badly wrong with him.

Fortunately, following a visit to the doctor, he learned that there was nothing to be concerned about, allowing him to celebrate with Mackenzie.

Enter Zara Selwyn in the year 2022. (Freya van Dyke). Zara was Amy Greenwood’s (Jacinta Stapleton) teen daughter, who instantly fell in love with Hendrix.

He simply saw her as a friend, but it was evident that she want more. Having a necklace he bought for Mackenzie re-engraved with her initials, and then snapping clandestine images of him for her pals. Finally, a kiss sealed the deal.

Hendrix didn’t take long to confess to Mackenzie. This caused a minor rift in their relationship, but they were able to mend it swiftly.

Regrettably, tragedy loomed on the horizon. Hendrix’s latest cough showed something more sinister — pulmonary fibrosis – despite it appearing to be nothing. More grim news followed: he wouldn’t live to see the end of the decade if he couldn’t obtain a lung transplant.

After a journey to Sydney, he was reunited with his parents, and he felt more loved than he had in a long time. His hurriedly planned wedding was stunning; it was the wedding of his and Mackenzie’s fantasies.

Despite the love that surrounded him, Hendrix struggled to accept the fact that his sickness could be fatal. When a donor stepped forwards, he put his life on the line to say thank you, virtually jeopardising his chances of receiving the transplant. Fortunately, the family changed their minds and agreed to the transplant.

Unfortunately, while the procedure is successful, Hendrix’s body rejects the transplant, leaving him with only a few hours to say his farewell to his new wife, family, and loved ones.

Now, with Hendrix’s death set to send shockwaves through Erinsborough, how will his loved ones – especially newly wed Mackenzie – cope?
